Priscilla Nicholson....the Artist

Priscilla has gained many years of experience in art from independent study, workshops and seminars developing her own art style, color, lighting and the technique of watercolor painting.  Priscilla has worked with several different mediums (including oils, acrylics, and pastels) but prefers watercolor.

There are many challenges to working with watercolor.  She likes the bright intense colors and how they take on a character all of their own.  She views each painting as a private partnership between herself and the paper.

Priscilla's inspirations and favorite subjects include dancers, florals, landscapes, still life, and a new challenge people.

She teaches and paints professionally and participates in exhibitions.  She is a member of the San Angelo Art Club and has solo exhibition at the West Branch Library, in galleries and is an invit3ed artist at the annual Stribling Art Extravaganza benefiting the West Texas Rehabilitation Center.

Priscilla has been commissioned for numerous paintings.  She has won second place and Honorable Mentions in the Art Club competitions, Coleman fine Arts Competition and the San Angelo Rodeo and Stock Show.

Ms. Nicholson has a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from the University of Tulsa. She worked as an Occupational Therapist using her art and dance training in therapy.  She teaches privately and is adjunct faculty for Angelo State University.

She has also served as a member of the board of directors for the San Angelo Civic Ballet, Inc., and the San Angelo Cultural Affairs Council.

Priscilla Nicholson....the Dancer

Priscilla Nicholson offers her students the unique blend of the expertise of a successful performing artist and a dedicated teacher. Although her energy is now directed toward her students, she continues her studies each year through teachers' seminars, lectures and techniques classes.

It is the aim of the Ballet Arts School to enrich the lives of each student as well as to offer a solid foundation in dance.

Ms. Priscilla Nicholson brings twenty-six years of teaching experience to San Angelo. She has operated her schools in several cities. The range of Ms. Nicholson's background extends from Classical Ballet and Modern Dance to Musicals and Operas.

She has studied Classical Ballet with Moscelyn Larkin and Roman Jasinski, directors of the Tulsa ballet. She studied Modern Dance with Hanya Holm, one of the pioneers at Colorado College.

She continued her studies with Suzanne Aker of Ballet Lubbock. She has studied dance pedagogy, ballet technique and composition with the famous ballerina, Yvonne Chouteau; and also with Migue Terekhove in the Russian technique. She has studied in summer workshops with Marjorie Tallchief.

Her other kudos include the staging of the Classical Ballets: Coppelia, Les Sylphides, and the Sleeping Beauty. She has choreographed many children and adult recitals and musical stage shows.

Ms. Nicholson is artistic director of the Story Dance Ballet Company for children ages 7-15.
